10 of Top 10 drug hotlist now behind bars

After fall of 3rd ‘Most Wanted’ drug dealer in Taguig

On the evening of Oct. 1 this year, Taguig police apprehended the last remaining person in the list of the Top 10 Target Drug Personalities who has yet to be taken off the streets and stopped from supplying illegal drugs to communities in Taguig.

The arrest of Alfonso A. Dacquel – No. 3 in the drug hotlist and a former member of the Philippine Marines – is another laurel on the Taguig police’s list of achievements this year as all of the ten biggest drug traffickers in the city are now behind bars.

Receiving the official report from PNP, Mayor Lani Cayetano has nothing but praises for the police for this latest development.

“This is extremely good news. Everyone in the Top 10 has been barred from flooding our streets with drugs. This means our citizens, especially our children, will now have decreased exposure to this menace,” Mayor Lani said.

“Again, I commend the police for this very outstanding work. You all have our gratitude.”

Taguig Police chief Senior Superintendent Arthur Felix Asis said Dacquel, alias Otoy, and his wife Siena Joyce Dacquel, alias Shen, of barangay Central Signal Village, Taguig City, were arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by the agents of the Taguig City Police Station Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (SAID-SOTG).

Chief Inspector Jerry Amindalan, SAID-SOTG head, said the couple yielded six plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu with a street value of P150,000.

Amindalan said his agents were very careful during the operation knowing that the suspect was a former Marine described as armed and dangerous.

Already arrested earlier were the Top 1 and 2 drug personalities identified as Michael Butch Tan and Sancho Espiritu, who were captured on August 21 and September 23, respectively.

Aside from Tan and Espiritu, the Taguig police also apprehended earlier this year Richard Silvestre, Isidro Llagas, MardieTalampas, Jackie Abone, Adonis Venus, Bags Malay and Rawie Castro, who were all in the Top 10 most wanted drug suspects.

Mayor Lani also received from the police the 2015 Third Quarter Report containing the names of the 183 individuals arrested by authorities for involvement in the illegal drug trade.

Since Mayor Lani took the helm in Taguig, an all-out war was declared against illegal drugs.

In the past, prominent members of the Tinga Drug Syndicate, which included Joana Tinga and Henry Tinga, and key member Elisa “Ely” Tinga, were put behind bars. ###

FILIPINO VERSION:

Matapos madakip ang “3rd most wanted drug dealer…”
