48 LANI scholars pass CPA, LET board exams
A total of 48 recipients of the P300-million Lifeline Assistance for Neighbors In-Need (LANI) Scholarship Program passed this year’s board exams for teachers and certified public accountants (CPAs).
Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano welcomed the development, saying she feels very proud of the LANI scholars for passing their respective licensure examinations.
“They are now en route to a very successful and productive future. Once again, we are reminded that we made a very good decision in investing in our children’s future here in Taguig,” Mayor Lani said.
During the recently held Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET), LANI scholars achieved a passing rate of 54.5% when 30 out of 55 takers passed, while 18 scholarship recipients are now proudly CPAs after passing the 2013 licensure examination last October.
Education graduates from the Taguig City University (TCU), meanwhile, posted a 79.71% passing rate. Out of 69 takers, 55 passed and are now licensed teachers.
Both the LET and CPA board exams passers are first time takers.
“Our LANI scholars have yet again brought pride and honor to Taguig,” Mayor Lani said.
These new developments are in addition to the impressive scores posted by LANI scholars in the previous Mechanical Engineering (29) and Nursing board exams this year. Taguig has now 29 new mechanical engineers and 35 new licensed nurses.
The milestone of the LANI scholars follows that of Charlie France Gisala – another LANI scholar – who placed 3rd in the 2013 Radiologic Technologist Board Examination in June of this year.
Bootes Lopos of the Taguig Education and Policy Office remarked that these scholars all availed of the review assistance program for bar and board reviewees, which is one of the eight basic categories of grants under the LANI Scholarship Program.
The others are: basic scholarship or financial assistance; full scholarships; state universities and colleges (SUCs) and local universities and colleges (LUCs) scholarships; basic plus SUC/LUC scholarships; premier/specialized schools scholarships; leaders and educators advancement and development (LEAD); and priority courses and skills training.
The grants for the fifth and last batch of scholars for the first semester were given last October totaling to 4,205 recipients, summing up the number of scholars to 12,129 for the first semester of this year alone
So far, more than 31,000 scholarships have been given away under the program since its inception in July 2011. ###
