65th Anniversary of the Philippine Marine Corps
The local government of Taguig joined in the 65th anniversary celebration of the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC), which was highlighted with the awarding and cake cutting ceremony last November 7 at the Jurado Hall Naval Station, Fort Bonifacio in Taguig.
The PMC is in charge of manning garrisons in shoals like Ayungin Shoal. It conducts amphibious and expeditionary warfare, as well as special operation missions.
During the event, the PMC prepared various activities including fund-raising projects in which its proceeds will go to the troops who are presently assigned in the Kalayaan Island Group.
The troops assigned in Kalayaan Islands have barely direct access to the mainland, no commercial transportation and with limited communications. That is why this type of celebration means a lot for them especially for the coming Christmas.
