Mayor Lani Donates P3.5M worth of Sound Equipment to Elementary, High Schools
Taguig City public schools have received 34 new sets of sound system courtesy of Mayor Lani Cayetano who turned over the equipment to school officials earlier this month.
The turnover of the P3.57-million worth of sound and audio equipment was formally done at the Taguig City Hall grounds after a flag raising ceremony with principals and officers of the 34 public schools.
“This has never been done before. Our schools used to borrow or rent sound equipment but now they already have one,” Mayor Lani said.
“I want to dedicate this donation to your unwavering service to enhance our beloved city’s public school system,” added the mayor.
Each of the public and elementary high schools received one set of sound and audio equipment, an initiative that has never been done during the previous administration.
The equipment donated included a microphone, DVD player, two-way instrumental speaker system, equalizer, mixer and an amplifier.
The donation, according to school officials, is important in the implementation of K to 12, a mandatory basic education program in schools in academic year 2012-2013. The K to 12 system will include the Universal Kindergarten, six years of elementary, four years of junior high school and an additional two years for senior high school.
The Federation of Parents and Teachers Association of Taguig thanked Mayor Lani for the good deed, saying that the new sets of sound system would be used in the upcoming graduation ceremonies.
Atty. Darwin Icay, Mayor Lani’s spokesperson, for his part, said the donation will enable school officials of elementary and high schools to do away with borrowing or renting sound systems.
“The city government’s donation demonstrates the current administration’s commitment in prioritizing education,” said Atty. Icay, also the chief of the Public Information Office.
The donation is just among a number of projects by Mayor Lani. Under her administration, Mayor Lani started to shoulder graduation expenses of public school students and gave financial assistance to Top 10 students of Taguig.
