LANI scholar tops Electrical Eng’g board exam
A scholar under the now P400-million LANI Scholarship Program joined the ranks of the country’s top achievers by besting over 1,600 examinees in the 2014 Electrical Engineering Board Examination held last month.
Pol John Amargo Cruz, who earned his degree at the Mapua Institute of Technology (MIT) in Manila, garnered a score of 88.45% in the board exam to top the 574 passers nationwide. A total of 1,648 took the exam given by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) in February.
Mayor Lani Cayetano congratulated Pol John for placing 1st overall nationwide in the board exam, saying that his achievement is one of those “heart-warming moments when we feel we are doing the right thing.”
“This is really good news and a cause for celebration. As proud are his parents are of his achievement, so am I,” Mayor Lani said.
Cruz, a full scholar of the LANI program, graduated third of his class in Taguig Science High School way back 2009 before the inception of the LANI scholarship program.
Upon meeting the requirements, Cruz qualified for a full scholarship in 2011.
Aside from Cruz, two LANI Review scholars from the Technological University of the Philippines-Taguig – Alvin C. Orolfo and Mark David Meneses – also passed the said board examination.
“This latest batch of Taguig achievers is a testament that it is always a very wise decision to invest in our children’s education. We are all proud of you. Rest assured that Taguig will continue to prioritize education,” Mayor Lani said.
This year, the LANI scholarship program had been increased to a whopping P400 million. Aside from scholarships for board exam review classes, it also has other components such as: basic scholarship or financial assistance; review assistance; state universities and colleges (SUCs) and local universities and colleges (LUCs) scholarships; basic plus SUC/LUC scholarships; premier/specialized schools scholarships; leaders and educators advancement and development (LEAD); and priority courses and skills training. ###
