Taguig opens its first-ever public park
Train ride, bike path and bazaar highlight community activities
An early Christmas treat for Taguigenos.
The local government of Taguig opened yesterday Dec. 2, the Taguig Lakefront Community (TLC) Park which features an array of community activities including a train ride, bike path and bazaar.
TLC Park, the city’s first ever public park, is located along C-6 Road, Barangay Lower Bicutan.
According to Mayor Lani Cayetano, the one hectare park also houses a Koi pond, a basketball alley and an activity area.
“We also invited local entrepreneurs to hold a bazaar beside the park and showcase their products and delicacies for the people to enjoy,” Mayor Lani said.
Designed with austerity in mind, the TLC Park is for everyone to experience and to enjoy with minimal costs as entry is free of charge.
Mayor Lani said the Park is a gift to her constituents. She noted that this project was in fulfillment of the dream of her late father-in-law, Sen. Rene Cayetano, who always believed in equality among the riches and the poor.
“Sen. Rene Cayetano has always said whatever rich people enjoy should be enjoyed by the poor as well,” she maintained. “So, this family-oriented park is a gift for all our constituents, rich and poor, where they can have fun for free.”
“This park is a glimpse of what we have in store for the lakefront development where people may enjoy jogging, biking and other activities.”
She added that the TLC Park is adorned with colorful and festive Christmas decorations, as its opening coincides with the holidays.
Adding to the Christmas feel of the park, a 30-foot tall Christmas tree towers the area, along with a train ride around the Christmas-themed park.
The TLC Park is open year-round. It operates from 3-6 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. ###
