Taguig prepares early for undas

Visitors who will  flock the 10 cemeteries located in Taguig City on November 1 (All Saint’s Day) and November 2 (All Soul’s Day) are assured of round-the-clock security, medical services and traffic assistance.

Taguig City has prepared early for the event, and will implement security measures, medical assistance and traffic management as early as October 29 (Saturday) until 6 p.m. of November 3, to give Taguigeños comfort and safety while visiting their dead.

“We want everything  to be orderly. I already issued directives to our POSO (Public Order and Safety Office) personnel as well as to the police to maintain peace and order inside and outside the cemeteries. We will have emergency teams in strategic places to respond quickly to medical emergencies,” said Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano.

As part of the security measures, police visibility operations will be increased at the city cemeteries, shopping malls, bus terminals and other vital facilities. The Taguig City Police will be assisted by POSO personnel to augment the visibility of law enforcers.

A motorist assistance center (Lakbay Alalay) will be set-up by the Taguig Police and  Traffic Management Office (TMO) at strategic areas including the Sampaguita Bridge, the C-5 Road (north bound lane) and the C-5 Road Clover-loop in front of the Heritage Park cemetery.

Meanwhile, public help desks and first aid booths will be available at the following cemeteries: Bagumbayan Cemetery, Hagonoy Cemetery, Tuktukan Cemetery, Ligid Catholic Cemetery, Aglipay Cemetery, Libingan ng mga Bayani, Garden of Memories, Maharlika Cemetery, Serenity Park Cemetery and the Heritage Park Cemetery.

Free candles, refreshments and snacks will be provided to the public at the said cemeteries.

For its part, the Taguig City Police has again reminded the public that bringing alcoholic beverages and deadly weapons are prohibited in cemeteries. Police warned that people who will be caught bringing in weapons and liquor will be arrested and the items confiscated. ###
