A merry Christmas for Taguig as studes take home international and nat’l Math, cheer awards

It’s the yearend, but Taguigeño youth are still delivering victories in various competitions.

 

Students from Senator Renato Companero Cayetano Memorial Science and Technology High School (SRCCMSTHS) and Upper Bicutan National High School bagged medals in a prestigious Math tilt held in Lucknow, India early this month.

 

Meanwhile, students from the Taguig Science High School, the Taguig City University (TCU) and the Signal Village National High School snagged first-place finishes in various categories of the Japan Open Cheerleading Competition and the Milo Marathon Pep Squad tilt.

 

 

In the annual math tilt in India, Wally Santos of SRCCMSTHS was named silver medalist in the individual category and first runner-up in the Math Mania category. Ma. Erica Therese Santos bagged bronze in the individual category; Sam Pelegrino took home the silver medal in the individual category and was named the champion in the team category where he was joined by other Filipino contestants. Paul Gumarin was second runner-up also in the team category.

 

 

All the math whizzes were all thanks to their families and the local government for the opportunity to edge out around 700 other mathematicians from 16 different countries.

 

 

“Hello Mayor,” Wally Santos said, from the South Asian venue. “Kung nakikinig po kayo, lubos po akong nagpapasalamat sa support niyo po aming mga estudyante ng Taguig!”

 

 

Ma. Erica Therese Santos, recalling their in-house Math trainings sponsored by the Taguig government, said the city gave them all-out support.

 

 

Joel Padilla, SRCCMSTHS teacher, also noted that the city funded the students’ hotel accommodations.

 

“Aminin man po natin o hindi, parang ang hirap pong punan ang bayad para makasali sa international contest, pero nandiyan po lagi ang Taguig City government para matulungan kami,” Ma. Erica Therese Santos said.

 

 

Meanwhile, the 24-member Taguig Science High School SinAg Pep Squad, 45-member TCU Varsity Pep Squad and 37-member Signal Village National High School Heralds Pep Squad were just as thankful.

 

 

The SinAg Pep Squad bagged first place in the Senior Coed Advanced and Open Coed Advanced categories in the Japan Open Cheerleading Championship held in Tokyo from Dec. 8 to 9. It was SinAg Pep Squad’s very first international cheerleading competition.

 

 

TCU Varsity Pep Squad and the Heralds Pep Squad of Signal Village National High School took home the championship titles in the college and high school divisions, respectively, in the Milo Marathon Cheerdance Competition held in Laoag City on Dec. 9. Both dominated their categories, with a total score of 97 percent and 99.3 percent, respectively.

 

 

“We see it as our responsibility to give our youngsters opportunities for advancement, especially where they can face off with the best of the best. For us, they deserve it,” noted Mayor Lani Cayetano of the multiple victories.

 

 

“Congratulations to the winners! These awards are a pat on the back for us; a very merry Christmas greeting. We will definitely continue supporting the youth and their education,” she added.

 

 

In Taguig, students continue to excel because of the city’s all-out investment in education.

 

 

 

At the center of this is the city’s touted Lifeline Assistance for Neighbors In-need (LANI), a scholarship program designed to cater to all Taguigeño youth who want to pursue their dreams. Last July 2017, the city government of Taguig increased the allowances of city scholars which now ranged from P15,000 to P60,000, depending on what type of scholarship the student has availed.

 

 

The city-run Taguig City University (TCU) also continues to offer free college education so high school graduates can pursue education up to the tertiary level. TCU students are also full scholars of the city since the local government shoulders all their tuition fees and miscellaneous expenses.

 

 

Apart from this, students from the 36 public schools in the city receive free school supplies, uniforms, hygiene kits, shoes bags, emergency grab bags, as well as raincoats, before the start of each school year. ###

Pamaskong regalo mula sa kabataang Taguigeno: International Math, nat’l cheer awards

 

 

Bago pa man matapos ang taon, umaariba pa rin ang kabataang Taguigeño matpos masungkit ang dalawang award sa magkahiwalay na competitions.

 

 

Inuwi ng mga estudyante ng Senator Renato Companero Cayetano Memorial Science and Technology High School (SRCCMSTHS) at Upper Bicutan National High School ang medalya sa prestishiyosong Math competition na ginanap sa Lucknow, India noong simula ng buwan ng Disyembre.

 

 

Samantala, nakuha rin ng mga estudyante mula sa Taguig Science High School, ng Taguig City University (TCU) at ng Signal Village National High School ang first-place finishes sa magkaibang kategorya ng Japan Open Cheerleading Competition at ng Milo Marathon Pep Squad competition.

Nagpasalamat din ang lahat ng math competitors mula sa Taguig sa suporta ng kanilang pamilya at sa lokal na pamahalaan para sa oportunidad na makamit ang tagumpay sa kabila ng pagsubok. Nakalaban ng mga estudyante ang mahigit na 700 mathematicians mula sa 16 na bansa.

Sa Taguig, ang mga estudyante ay patuloy na umaangat bunsod na rin ng patuloy na pag-angat ng suporta at tulong ng pamahalaang lokal sa pagbuhos ng pondo at inisyatibo sa edukasyon.
