Taguig to host award-winning Go Fly Kite exhibition at BGC

As an alternative to a smoke-filled environment due to fireworks displays, the city government of Taguig will host a kite show using Singapore’s “Go Fly Kite” technology at 7 p.m. on December 23 at the Bonifacio Global City Turf, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

The activity, which will be graced by Sen. Alan Peter S. Cayetano and his wife, Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano, is a thanksgiving event for the donations and relief goods raised during the Bayanihan RoRo mission to calamity-affected areas in Visayas last month.

“This holiday season is a very good time to count our blessings. With the series of calamities that affected our country, we should be thankful that the bayanihan spirit took over and made the tragedies a little bit easier to bear,” Mayor Lani said.

“We also hope that this will symbolize our hope and aspiration that the Yolanda victims would recover and fly high again.”

In celebration of this spirit, Mayor Lani said the city wants to move away from the usual stuffy atmosphere during fireworks displays because not only does it contribute to a smoke-filled environment but also quite hazardous to the health.

“For this reason, we are doing an extraordinary kite show which is also a good way for families and friends to bond,” she added.

The Go Fly Kite show is a dazzling display of lights and sounds using remote-controlled kites, a truly a pollution-free exercise and an alternative to the traditional fireworks display that is common this season.

The award-winning Go Fly Kite introduces a flying experience like never before as it is remote controlled and has LED lights for a colorful kite-flying experience.

It has earned numerous awards, including the Spirit of Enterprise award given by the tourism board of Singapore for the novelty of its concept.

“This event is a sure-fire way for enjoyment. With this, we will bring Christmas cheer with the lights and sounds from the kite show and we are hoping to encourage everyone to have a pollution-free Christmas and New Year,” said Mayor Lani.

The local executive further said that BGC Turf is open to all who wish to witness this one-of-a-kind event. ###
