Flag Raising Ceremony (02/09/2015)
The local government of Taguig formally launches the Special Smile for Special Child Program during the Flag Raising Ceremony hosted by the City Health Office-Dental Department at the Taguig City Hall Grounds.
The program is part of the National Dental Health Month Celebration which aims to strengthen public awareness on the importance of practicing proper oral health care. It encourages dentists, students, relevant government agencies, and professional organizations to reach out to more people with no access to dental services, especially those living in the countryside.
Students of the Sentro Kalinga and children who are mentally challenged were given free dental checkups by dentists from the City Health Office.
Also during the flag rasing ceremony, Mayor Lani Cayetano received the Mother-Baby Friendly Workplace Certification for the city’s compliance with the Republic Act No. 10028 “Known as the Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Acts of 2009”.
The Mother-Baby Friendly Workplace Certification aims to promote and encourage breastfeeding in work places both in the private and public sector. Under the certification criteria, lactation stations should be adequately provided with necessary equipment: lavatory for hand washing, refrigeration or appropriate cooling facilities for breast milk expression and storage, electrical outlets for breast pumps, a small table, comfortable seats and other items that conform to the standards defined by the Department of Health.
Currently, the city government of Taguig has two breastfeeding facilities which are located in Taguig City Hall and Taguig City Extension Office, SM Aura Tower.
