It’s red carpet season for businesses in Taguig City
Record-high biz tax collection last year.
Taguig City will once again roll out the red carpet for its business community with the Business One-Stop-Shop (BOSS), a heavily streamlined set of processes for the registration of new and renewing businesses, slated from January 4-20.
The BOSS will be operational in two venues: the City Hall Auditorium and the satellite office in SM Aura in Bonifacio Global City.
“Once again, we give the business community the VIP treatment they deserve. The taxes they pay help fund our social services, which is very important to our citizens,” Mayor Lani Cayetano said.
“Today, investor confidence is at a high. Without it, there will be no scholarship fund, no free medicine delivered straight to residences and there are no free uniforms or school supplies.”
In fact, business tax collection is at an all-time high last year.
Mayor Lani said this can be attributed to a lot of factors, like the low tax rates and business-friendly environment of Taguig City.
“And they can also see where their taxes are being spent. It really goes back to the people,” she explained.
The tremendous increase this year of tax collections from the business permit and licensing fees by the city’s Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) is the highest in five years.
In return, the city government prepared a business permitting and licensing procedures convenient and efficient to all business owners.
Business owners may also enjoy free massages, film showing, drinks and snacks as they process their license.
“BOSS is our commitment to all our investors. It makes your business application or renewal services fast and accessible,” the Mayor added.
She explained that the program also promotes transparency among city hall employees.
Atty. Joy Panga-Cruz, Officer-in-Charge of BPLO, also emphasized that city employees are not allowed to act as “fixers” or engage in any way in processing business permits and licenses aside from those tasked to do so.
“We do not tolerate fixers. If found to be guilty of such, termination of employment and criminal prosecution will certainly follow,” Atty. Cruz said.
The city received from the Office of the Ombudsman a Blue Certification Award which indicates that it passed the anti-graft agency’s anti-red tape standards and its system conformed to the ease of doing business standards.
