City scholars numbering 1,223 received their grants from the P500 Million – Lifeline Assistance for Neighbors In-Need (LANI) Scholarship Program last February 12 at the Taguig City University Auditorium TCU).
The beneficiaries belong to the 2nd batch of scholars for the 2nd semester of 2014.
Taguig continues to sustain the immensely successful LANI Scholarship Program by increasing its fund every year.
By far, the city’s P500 million scholarship fund is the largest of its kind in the country.
This is the fifth time the local government under the administration of Mayor Lani Cayetano hiked the scholarship fund from a mere P5 million during the previous administration to P100 million in 2011, P200 million in 2012, P300 million in 2013 and P400 million in 2014.
To date, there are more than 46,000 scholarships processed and given under the LANI program since its inception during Mayor Lani’s term as Taguig City’s chief executive for two successive terms starting 2010.
