Mayor Lani commends Taguig PNP for successful anti-crime drive in 2015
Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano has commended the Taguig City Police Station for an outstanding anti-crime campaign effort for the whole year of 2015.
“I commend our Taguig City Police Station led by its chief, Senior Supt. Arthur Felix Asis, for their outstanding efforts to eliminate criminality in our city.
They never get tired of serving and protecting our city,” Mayor Lani Cayetano said.
The mayor’s commendation came after the Taguig police and the Bulacan Provincial Police Office busted a “chop-chop” syndicate involved in smuggling and hoarding of stolen truck parts and carnapped vehicles in Barangay Lower Bicutan on December 28.
In a joint police operation, the Taguig City PNP and the Bulacan Provincial PNP successfully located the “chop-chop” truck parts warehouse in Barangay Lower Bicutan through a GPS (global positioning system) device mounted in one of the trucks that is carnapped in Sta. Maria, Bulacan.
The police retrieved various trucks parts including chassis, tires, licenses plates and documents from different companies.
Truck owners were able to identify their trucks but, unfortunately, the engines were nowhere to be found. One of the residents said that the warehouse is owned by a certain SPO1 Wilson Regala assigned at the National Capital Region Police Office, but an on-going investigation is still being conducted to determine the report.
“This is evidently an accomplishment for the police and a big blow to the syndicate that is involved in this type of racket. I am sure that our police will pursue a criminal case against the people behind the illegal operation. Also I want to make it clear to these criminals that Taguig City is not a place for chop-chop parts, nor for illegal drugs, kidnappings and carnappings. We will not tolerate these criminal acts here,” Mayor Lani said.
Between July and October this year, Taguig City Police Station was able to arrest and put behind bars all the 10 most notorious drug suspects in the city. All of the suspects were charged with cases before the appropriate courts. In 2012, the police also busted the notorious Tinga drug syndicate and filed charges against the members of the Tinga drug group.
On February 2015, the Taguig City Police Station also successfully rescued a newborn baby that was kidnapped by a lady who pretended to be a DSWD personnel at the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital. The suspect was charged and put behind bars for kidnapping.
According to Mayor Lani, the solid and strong partnership between the city government and the city police station resulted to various commendations for getting rid of criminality in Taguig City.
On February 16, 2015, a special award from the NCRPO was given to Taguig City Police Station for its relentless campaign against illegal drugs through the successfully reinvigorated anti-criminality campaign dubbed as Oplan Lambat Sibat.
Last July, Mayor Lani was recognized by the PNP for her efforts in the fight against lawless elements. She received the “Best Among The Best Practices” award being given to local chief executives in the observance of 16th Police Community Relations Month.
An evaluation report by the Southern Police District (SPD) also cited the Taguig City police for its outstanding average of 100 percent in arresting wanted criminals operating in the city.
“I assure the people of Taguig that my administration will continue to support our local police in its anti-crime efforts,” Mayor Lani said.
