Mayor Lino Cayetano commends anti-corruption body; vowed swift action on the arrest of 2 City Hall employees
Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano on Tuesday commended the office of Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Commissioner Greco Belgica and the Philippine National Police for their entrapment operation that resulted in the arrest of 2 employees of the Local Building Office accused of extorting P10,000.
The mayor issued the statement as he denounced the activity of Emma Robianes and Edward Buncab, who were arrested in the entrapment operation at the Taguig City Satellite Office at the SM Aura Office Tower in BGC this afternoon, after the two allegedly extorted P10,000 from a building permit applicant.
“I have immediately ordered City Administrator Atty. Lyle Pasco to conduct an inquiry and coordinate with Commissioner Belgica’s office to file the necessary charges,” Mayor Lino said noting that he has already reached out to Commissioner Belgica and thanked him for his anti-corruption efforts.
He lauded the anti-corruption body and expressed the city’s all-out support to make sure the full extent of the law is implemented and to continue working to make Taguig a model city for good governance.
“The City of Taguig has always been a benchmark for good governance. We will act swiftly as we do not tolerate any form of corruption in Taguig City,” the local chief executive added.
Mayor Lino also reiterated that corruption has no place in Taguig. He added that those who may be engaged in corrupt activities will surely face the full force of the law.
The mayor called on anyone who has complaints to inform the Office of the City Mayor or the Human Resource Management Office of anybody conducting these kinds of activities.
“Rest assured your city government will not tolerate any of these activities. They will be held accountable,” the mayor added. ###
