More than 2,000 Taguig couples to renew vows on Valentine’s Day
First-ever Valentine Village to open
Love truly is in the air in Taguig.
This Valentine’s Day, more than two thousand couples in Taguig will be renewing their wedding vows before spouses Mayor Lani Cayetano and Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, coinciding with the opening of the city’s first-ever Valentine Village located at the C-6 road in Lower Bicutan.
The couples – all 2,256 of them to be exact – are the same ones that Mayor Lani herself wed through the local government’s Kasalang Bayan project all throughout the duration of her term, which started in July 2010.
This special event, hosted by the City Civil Registry Office, will be the first in the country, wherein a large congregation of couples will renew their wedding vows before the same person who administered their marriage.
“Valentine’s Day is a perfect time to renew our wedding vows and re-affirm the love for one another. This is the local government’s way of keeping our families strong, being the basic unit of our society,” Mayor Lani said.
She explained that the venue – the first-ever Valentine Village the city has ever seen – is the perfect place to hold the event as it was envisioned be romantic as it is idyllic.
The Valentine Village will be decked with lights and sounds for a romantic and fun ambience and will serve as a new attraction not only for Taguigeños, but for those who want to feel the love on Valentine’s Day.
The visitors may take souvenir photos with the beautifully decorated park as background while enjoying the acoustic tunes provided every night from February 14 to 22.
The park will also feature a play area for the children’s enjoyment.
“Though not a formal holiday, we still celebrate Valentine’s Day because we Filipinos are a firm believer in love. Couples and families will surely enjoy this theme park and we are hoping that this will give them a meaningful Valentine’s Day,” said Mayor Lani. ###
