Prom nights in Taguig schools to be featured ‘live’ on the internet

E-Prom on its 3rd year

The pioneering spirit lives on.

For the third year since 2012, the Junior-Senior Prom (JS Prom) in all of Taguig City’s 12 public high schools will again be featured “live” on the internet in order to provide families and friends of the students an opportunity to watch the events via livestreaming.

This will be made possible through the local government’s “e-Prom” program, which aims to make use of the benefits of technology in order to allow friends and families to participate in this special event in the life of students.

“Once again, we are making this event more special by allowing those far away or abroad to view how their loved ones will spend this special night. It was a very huge success for the first two years of implementation, and we’re hoping this year would be better,” said Mayor Lani Cayetano.

To this date, Taguig City is the only local government unit in Metro Manila offering livestreaming of JS Proms in the city’s public high schools.

Mayor Lani earlier said the concept of having the prom live streamed would be for the benefit of family members either working or residing abroad.

Moreover, the local executive assured that the JS prom, held in February every year, is free of charge since the local government will shoulder all expenses, including the venue, food and the sound systems.

“JS Proms are very special for high school students; it is a chance to enjoy and have a break from the stressful and busy high school life,” she added.

The live streaming can be viewed at Taguig City’s official Facebook page, “I Love Taguig” (www.facebook.com/taguigcity).

One has to “Like” the page in order to view the livestreamed JS Proms.

Aside from the JS Prom, Taguig also hosts a livestreaming event of its public schools graduation rites (e-Grad). ###
