The now P400-million Lifeline Assistance for Neighbors In-Need (LANI) Scholarship Program has again proven to be a resounding success in populating Taguig City with new professionals year after year as a total of 69 scholars passed their respective board examinations this year.
Brimming with genuine pride for the recent feat of the scholars, Mayor Lani Cayetano said the city has been proven time and again that it was not only correct in investing a sizeable amount of its resources to scholarship, but it was morally upright as well.
“Our LANI scholars yet again brought good news to Taguig, so I am very proud,” said Mayor Lani, adding that the city’s scholarship program is also a way of giving back to Taguigeños.
“What we are doing is leaving a lasting legacy that will benefit Taguig for years to come. As Bonifacio Global City and the soon-to-be-developed FTI area will need pools of professionals and skilled workers, we are confident we made the right decision”.
So far, since the first term of Mayor Lani, a total of P1 billion has been earmarked for the LANI program.
During the recent Mechanical Engineering Licensure Examination, 42 out of 45 LANI scholars passed the licensure exam and achieved a passing rate of 95 percent, while 20 scholars are now licensed Electronics Engineers after passing their licensure examination last September.
The LANI scholarship Program has so far produced a total of 109 Mechanical Engineers and 67 Electronics Engineers among many other professionals.
Seven other LANI scholarship recipients passed the Electrical Engineering Licensure Examination, Medical Technologist Licensure Examination, and Chemist Licensure Examination.
City Scholarship Secretariat Lot Estacio, meanwhile, said they all availed the review assistance program for bar and board reviewees, which is one of the eight basic categories of grants under the LANI Scholarship Program.
The others are: basic scholarship or financial assistance; full scholarships; state universities and colleges (SUCs) and local universities and colleges (LUCs) scholarships; basic plus SUC/LUC scholarships; premier/specialized schools scholarships; leaders and educators advancement and development (LEAD); and priority courses and skills training.
To date, the LANI scholarship program has processed and given a total of more than 46,000 scholarships to more than 24,000 beneficiaries since its inception in 2011. ###
