Taguig advocates rabies-free community; provides free neutering and spaying for pets of residents
Need to have your pet spayed and neutered?
No worries, the Taguig City government has got you covered!
Taguig pet owners like you can avail of the City Veterinary Office’s free services that are aimed at fighting rabies and ensuring a safe neighborhood.
“We included spaying and neutering in our program against rabies because one of the ways in eliminating rabies in our city is to control the population of our pets,” City Veterinary Office (CVO) officer-in-charge Dr. Alexis Siblag said.
According to Dr. Siblag, neutering takes only three to eight minutes, and spaying only between 15-25 minutes.
Residents who avail of the program are also given antibiotics and pain relievers for their pets.
Interested Taguigeños are welcome to visit the CVO at the city’s Model House on Cayetano Boulevard in Barangay Ususan.
They will be asked to register and submit requirements that include a barangay residency or Voter’s ID that will prove that they are bona fide residents of Taguig City.
If all the documents submitted are proven accurate and complete, personnel from the CVO will contact them for the schedule of the operation.
They will also be asked to sign a waiver prior to the operation.
“Instead of going to a private clinic and paying P3,000 for your pets’ operation, let’s take advantage of this free service,” Siblag said.
And many Taguigeño pet owners have.
In 2017, the CVO spayed and neutered 207 cats and 73 dogs, or a total of 280 animals in all of the city’s 28 barangays.
As of May 2018, a total of 81 cats and dogs have already been spayed and neutered.
But the program is only one of many the City is implementing for the benefit of Taguig pet lovers.
There’s the adopt-a-dog program for residents who wish to adopt and provide a home for rescued dogs currently housed at the Taguig City pound; and the yearly TCARD program, which involves house-to-house visits of veterinarians all throughout the city with the aim of vaccinating pets.
Those who are bitten by rabies-exposed animals can also avail of free treatment and vaccination in the city’s five Animal Bite Treatment Centers (ABTC) in Brgy. Ibayo-Tipas, Brgy. Old Lower Bicutan, Brgy. Pinagsama, Brgy. Upper Bicutan, and Brgy. North Signal.

“We included spaying and neutering in our program against rabies because one of the ways in eliminating rabies in our city is to control the population of our pets,” ayon pa kay City Veterinary Office (CVO) officer-in-charge Dr. Alexis Siblag.
“Instead of going to a private clinic and paying P3,000 for your pets’ operation, let’s take advantage of this free service,” saad pa ni Siblag.
Ibayo-Tipas, Brgy. Old Lower Bicutan, Brgy. Pinagsama, Brgy. Upper Bicutan, at Brgy. North Signal. ###
