Taguig City’s hospital gets an upgrade

ICU facility now fully operational

The city government of Taguig has dramatically improved the scope and quality of service at the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital (TPDH) by recently opening its fully furnished Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

The ICU at the TPDH is a special department  that provides intensive treatment with brand new medical equipment. The ICU facility has  sections for  adults (10 beds), pediatric (6 beds), and newborn (12 beds).

The ICU caters to patients with severe and life-threatening illnesses and injuries and who require constant and  close monitoring from specialists and staff using  high-tech equipment and medications. The new ICU will be manned by highly trained doctors and nurses who specialize in caring for critically ill patients.

“We simply owe it to our constituents. This upgrade in medical treatment is a testament to our determination to give Taguigeneos the best service that their local government can deliver,” said Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano.

“The city government of Taguig has been working hard to open and operate an ICU which is really needed by its residents,” added Dr. Quilatan. With the new ICU, Taguig residents will no longer have to go to neighboring city hospitals  to avail of  an ICU facility which is  also variously known as an intensive therapy unit, intensive treatment unit, or critical care unit.

Since her first term in 2010,  Mayor Lani Cayateno has been improving the facilities at the city hospital. TPDH now operates  the Taguig City  Human Milk Bank, a  Mammography Center, a CT scan facility, the  Taguig Social Hygiene Drop-in Center,  and a TB DOTS clinic.

TPDH’s bed capacity has been increased over the years. Its ER bed capacity has doubled and it has a refurbished, fully-airconditioned emergency and operating rooms.

Last year, the Department of Health (DOH) recognized TPDH  as a Mother-Baby Friendly Hospital.

Other significant improvements in  health care services under Mayor Lani’s watch include the improved condition of the 31 Barangay Health Centers which are all Philhealth accredited;  the establishment of four (4) Super Health Centers which offer 24/7 services; the implementation of door-to-door delivery of maintenance medicines for diabetes, asthma, and hypertension; the citywide eye check up and distribution of prescription glasses to senior citizens and students; the implementation of “Doctors On Call” program”  (designed for quick response to emergency calls or text through dedicated hotline number); and   free home care nursing services for bedridden patients.

The city also makes it a point to enroll indigent patients to PHILHEALTH and implements a “no balance billing” scheme which make  their treatment at TPDH free-of-charge. ###

FILIPINO VERSION:

Ngayon, mayroon na itong Taguig City Human Milk Bank, Mammography Center, CT scan facility, Taguig Social Hygiene Drop-in Center, at TB DOTS clinic.
