Taguig honors city’s top taxpayers
Vows for more efficient, ‘corruption-free’ services
The local government of Taguig today vowed to institute more reforms in its tax collection efforts while maintaining its efficient, corruption-free services to the business sector, as it held a thanksgiving luncheon in honor of the city’s top taxpayers at the Enderun Colleges in Fort Bonifacio on Monday.
“The sheer amount of resources we have allocated for basic social services to Taguigenos in the sectors of education and health is a testament of the immense contribution of the business sector to our beloved city’s growth.” Mayor Lani Cayetano said in honoring Taguig’s top taxpayers.
“We owe every one of you a debt of gratitude. Because of the taxes you invest in our city, we are able to send kids to college and bring medicines to those who need it.”
Among the top taxpayers of Taguig include Samsung Electronics Philippines Corporation, Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation, Metro Market! Market!, Station Square East Commercial Corporation, Serendra,Inc., Colgate-Palmolive Philippines, Inc., DMCI Project Developers Inc., Megaworld Corporation, Metro Drug, Inc. and Alveo Land Corporation.
These corporations are among the top 100 taxpayers that will be honored and recognized during the event.
“We are proud to call you partners in our city’s development. Rest assured that in Taguig, we will continue to strive in bringing you more efficient and corruption-free services,” Mayor Lani stressed.
More and more business and big corporations are opting to be headquartered in Taguig City, particularly in Fort Bonifacio, because of its low tax rates, ease of doing business, efficient services and corruption-free policy.
There is also no number coding in Taguig which gives added convenience to resident business firms.
She explained that with the efficiency in tax collections in Taguig, the local government was able to increase to P300 million its Lifeline Assistance for Neighbors In-Need (LANI) Scholarship Program, which has given away more than 32,000 scholarships to date.
Mayor Lani also stressed that medical services to the people has also greatly improved with the recent opening of Super Health Centers all over the city which will tend to patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“All of these wouldn’t be possible without our dear taxpayers, who continue to give us their full trust and confidence,” she said.
Business One Stop Shop (BOSS) for a year
Doing business in Taguig, she said, has never been more easy and efficient with the implementation of the Transaction Tracking System and the Business One Stop Shop (BOSS), both of which are aimed at streamlining the process of transacting with the local government.
“We already started doing our Business One Stop Shop last year and it has been a success. Because of that, we will be doing another one next year but this time, instead of doing it for a limited period of time, it will be for the whole year,” Mayor Lani announced.
“We have seen how BOSS was able to fast-track everything from licensing to processing one’s business and it was easy for investors to process their taxes because everything was in one place.”
Taguig City has been recognized by no less than the World Bank as one of the best places in the country to do business in. In its most recent Ease of Doing Business study, Taguig ranked first amongst the cities in Metro Manila to have the easiest and least number of processes of putting up a business.
In the same study, Taguig again ranked first in Metro Manila when it comes to dealing with construction permits. ###
