Taguig honors its top taxpayers for 2016

Partners for development and continued growth

For their indispensable role in the city’s continuing growth, the top taxpayers of Taguig City were honored during its annual thanksgiving luncheon at the Kalayaan Hall of the city’s Satellite Office in SM Aura, Bonifacio Global City on Friday.

“This annual event is a tribute to you – our partners – and an opportunity for us to acknowledge your important role in developing our city. You are all instrumental in sustaining the city’s various socio-economic and infrastructure programs,” said Mayor Lani Cayetano in recognizing the city’s top taxpayers.

The city’s top 10 taxpayers include Team Energy Corp., Alveo Land Corp., BGNorth Properties Inc., Fort Bonifacio Development Corp., Metro Retail Stores Group Inc., Station Square East Commercial Corp., Makati Development Corp., BGSouth Properties Inc. and Samsung Electronics Phil. Corp.

“We like what the Mayor and her team are doing. We are happy to be here,” said Manuel R. Lozano of Therma Luzon Inc. (TLI), the top taxpayer for 2016.

TLI is a power generation company which runs a coal-fired power plant in Pagbilao, Quezon. Mr. Lozano praised Taguig for creating a great environment for investment including accessibility to the banking sector. “It’s very ideal for our business,” he added.

The city government aims to create more opportunities for its citizens and to continue having a great partnership in doing business with these investors through its business-friendly policies such as the low tax rates; transparent and corruption-free environment; and the implementation of ease of doing business strategies like the annual Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) and the cashless transactions of taxes and other fees.

“The city government will continue to improve peace and order, prepare our people through manpower and livelihood training, establish programs for job matching and create more opportunities through infrastructure projects in the year 2017,” Mayor Lani added.

Taguig City has been continuously implementing innovative programs in various sectors, principally on education and health. The Lifeline Assistance for Neighbors In-Need Scholarship Program offers free schooling and other educational assistance to students and their families. Public school students also enjoy free school uniforms and school supplies, air-conditioned classrooms and even free prescription glasses. Because of this superb support for education, Taguig City is ranked No. 1 in the National Capital Region’s National Achievement Test (NAT) for elementary and high school for two consecutive years.

On the health front, the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital (TPDH) has been modernizing its equipment and four Super Health Centers operate 24/7. The city also implements the “Doctor On Call” program which is designed for quick response to emergency calls or texts through hotline 0917-8210896. There are also free home-care nursing services for bedridden patients.

Taguig has also been given a Blue Certification Award by the Office of the Ombudsman for its streamlined frontline services and was recognized by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for having the highest rating in the Anti-Red Tape Act compliance measures among 46 first-class cities. A World Bank Ease of Doing Business study said that Taguig is one of the best places in the country to do business in. ###

FILIPINO VERSION

Corp.
