Taguig police launches probe of Vhong Navarro’s case

The Taguig City police has already initiated its investigation into the reported mauling of TV personality Vhong Navarro inside a condominium unit at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) last January 22.

 Taguig City Police Station chief Senior Superintendent Arthur Felix Asis however lamented the fact that parties to the case failed to report the matter to the Taguig police, which has jurisdiction over the Fort Bonifacio area where BGC is situated.

 Recent reports have indicated conflicting claims. Some said that Navarro was allegedly invited by a female companion last January 22 to a certain condo unit in BGC, where he was allegedly blindfolded, mauled and threatened by a group of men. He is said to be currently undergoing treatment in the hospital.

 Other reports indicated an angle involving attempted rape.

 Asis noted the conflicting claims being offered by the parties to the case and said the Taguig police will be exhaustively investigating all angles.

 “Because of that, we are asking for the full cooperation of all those involved in the case. We warn them that charges of obstruction of justice can be filed against them should they refuse to cooperate with the police,” he said.

 He added that the actions being undertaken by the Taguig police is in line with the general directive issued by Mayor Lani Cayetano to stamp out crime in the city.

 “A crime was definitely committed…In Taguig City, we do not tolerate crimes. Peace and order is a  priority concern for us,” Asis declared.

 “We assure everyone that the rule of law prevails in our city. So I urge all parties to aid in the swift resolution of this case. We will not hesitate to file charges, within the bounds of law, against anyone who will frustrate the administration and dispensation of justice.”

 As of now, Asis said Taguig investigators are finding it extremely difficult to gather information due to the lack of details/information available.

 He said the Taguig Police has already coordinated with the condominium administration, summoning the building administrator and a representative of the security agency assigned in the condominium building to the Taguig Police station.

 Both parties agreed to come but later on informed the police they will not be able to send anyone for questioning, he added.

 “It is the responsibility of the building officers and security personnel to know what happens in their premises, thus we asked them to report to us,” Asis said.

 “It is their responsibility to monitor what goes in, out and around their premises. Also, they must subject themselves to proper police proceedings so that we may progress with this case. If it will be proven that they are hiding records from the police, we will be forced to file an obstruction of justice case against them.” ###
