Taguig police readies for secured Holy Week
Taguig residents can focus themselves on solemn observance of the Holy Week, whether they go to their provinces or stay in the city.
Chief of Taguig City Police Senior Supt. Allen Ocden, upon instruction of Mayor Lani Cayetano, has readied his force for the annual religious retreat to keep the city safe and secured as city residents observe these holy days.
“Holy Week is a time of reflection for everyone. It does not matter which denomination of faith you belong to. Maintaining peace and order during this time of solemnity is of utter importance in Taguig, which is a multicultural and highly diverse city,” Mayor Lani said.
“Unfortunately, criminals do not take holidays, even on Holy Week. It is for this reason that I’ve instructed the Taguig City Police to enforce measures that would pre-empt unscrupulous groups from having their way in Taguig,” she added.
Ocden assured that although there is no information on threats that may disrupt the peaceful observance of Holy Week in the city, the 680-strong Taguig City Police will be ready and visible, especially in public areas such as churches and bus terminals.
“There is no report of threats, but we will not be caught off-guard,” Ocden said.
According to the Taguig Police, starting Palm Sunday until Easter Sunday, hundreds of police officers will be deployed across the city to secure churches and other public areas as well as the city’s 28 barangays.
Ocden also reminded Taguigeños who will be travelling to the provinces for the observance of Holy Week to be security conscious.
“Let us all be vigilant. To those who will be leaving their houses for the provinces, make sure all the doors and windows of their houses are locked. They should also entrust their houses to their neighbors,” he said.
Ocden said residents who live inside gated subdivisions in the city should also inform their security guards that they would be leaving so that the proper security measures are taken, especially against burglars.
He also ordered commanders of the various police community precincts (PCPs) to make sure police presence is felt by the public during the observance of Holy Week.
The Taguig Police in coordination with the local city government will also set-up Public Assistance Centers (PACs), as well as “Lakbay Alalay” Motorist Assistance Centers for fast response in cases of vehicular accidents.
“We will even be conducting house visits during this Semana Santa just to make sure that our communities are safe,” he said.
Taguig City has a population of 720,000 people. It is home to Bonifacio Global City (BGC)—Metro Manila’s premiere business hub that also hosts high-end residences, shopping malls, various embassies, a world-class hospital as well as a state-of-the-art science museum. ###

Seguridad para sa Semana Santa ikinasa na ng Taguig police
Maari nang ipagdiriwang ng mga Taguigeño ang Semana Santa nang walang pangamba piliin man nilang umuwi sa kani-kanilang probinsya o mamalagi sa kanilang mga tahanan.
Sa utos ni Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano, ikinasa ni Taguig City Police chief Senior Supt. Allen Ocden ang kanilang preparasyon para sa mapayapa at maayos na paggunita ng mga residente sa mga banal na araw na ito.
“Ang Semana Santa ay panahon ng repleksyon para sa bawat isa, hindi na mahalaga kung ano ang kinaaaniban mong pananampalataya. Ang pagpapanatili ng kapayapaan at kaayusan sa panahon ng Semana Santa ay lubhang mahalaga sa Taguig kung saan naninirahan ang maraming indibidwal na may iba’t-ibang kultura,” giit ng alkalde.
“Nakalulungkot isipin na ang mga kriminal ay hindi nagpapahinga kahit Semana Santa. Dahilan kung bakit inatasan ko ang Taguig Police na magpatupad ng mga hakbangin na hahadlang sa mga grupong ito na makapambiktima,” dagdag pa niya.
Tiniyak naman ni Ocden na bagamat walang impormasyon na magkakaroon ng kaguluhan sa Semana Santa sa lungsod, ang ilang daang kapulisan ng Taguig ay handa upang tumugon kung kinakailangan.
“Walang napaulat na maaring may mangyaring kaguluhan. Pero kami ay handa,” sabi ni Ocden.
Ayon sa Taguig Police, magpapakalat ng ilang daang pulis sa kabuuan ng lungsod, particular sa mga simbahan at iba pang pampublikong lugar kasama na ang 28 barangays. Ang pagpapakalat ng mga pulis ay sinimulan sa Linggo ng Palaspas (Palm Sunday) hanggang Pasko ng Pagkabuhay (Easter Sunday).
Samantala pinaalahanan ni Ocden ang mga Taguigeños na aalis ng lungsod para gunitain ang Semana Santa sa mga probinsya, na tiyaking nakasara nang mabuti ang kanilang mga bahay.
“Lahat tayo ay dapat maging maingat. Bago tayo umalis, tiyaking nakasara nang mabuti ang mga pintuan at bintana ng ating mga bahay. Ipakisuyo rin sa mga kapitbahay na kung pwede ay tignan-tignan ang ating mga bahay habang tayo ay wala,” sabi ni Ocden.
Sa mga naninirahan naman sa mga subdibisyon, payo ni Ocden na ipaalam sa mga security guards ng subdibisyon na sila ay aalis upang mabantayan nang husto ang mga bahay lalo na sa mga magnanakaw.
Inutusan din ni Ocden ang lahat ng kumander ng mga police community precincts (PCPs) na tiyakin nakakalat sa mga mataong lugar sa lungsod ang kanilang mga pulis. Inutusan din niya ang mga pulis pangtrapiko ng Taguig na tiyaking maayos at ligtas ang pagbyahe ng mga motorista papasok at palabas ng Taguig sa Semana Santa.
Maglalagay din ang Taguig Police sa tulong ng lokal na pamahalaan ng lungsod ng mga Public Assistance Centers (PACs), at mga “Lakbay Alalay Motorist Assistance Centers” para saklolohan ang sinumang motorist na magkakaaberya sa kanilang mga byahe sa Semana Santa.
“Bibisitahin rin namin ang mga kabahayan para lamang matiyak na ligtas ang lahat ang mga barangay sa paggunita ng Semana Santa,” sabi ni Ocden.
Ang Taguig City ay may populasyon na 720,000 katao at tahanan ng Bonifacio Global City (BGC) ang primyadong lugar pangkomersyo at libangan ng Metro Manila na kung saan matatagpuan ang mga embahada ng iba’t-ibang bansa, isang modernong ospital, mga “shopping malls,” “high-end residences” at isang “state-of-the-art” na museo. ###
