Taguig rolls out ‘red carpet’ with Business One-Stop Shop

Vows to enhance partnership with business sector

The local government of Taguig vows to enhance what it described as a meaningful partnership with the city’s business sector by maintaining its sound policy of combining low tax rates and ease in doing business for this year.

In fact, Taguig City has once again opened to businesses, old and new, its Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) for business registration and renewal. It started this January 2 and will end January 20 at the city hall auditorium.

“We try to be a good partner to the private sector because we believe that as long as they are happy with the way things are being run in the city, they will continue investing and consequently enable us to deliver social services to our constituents,” Mayor Lani Cayetano said.

“And BOSS is just one way of showing how we value such a partnership. This program is a significantly streamlined business permits and licensing process which makes doing business in Taguig a whole lot easier.”

Mayor Lani said for business establishments with complete requirements, applying for permits and licenses would be a breeze with the BOSS.

“The BOSS is a product of our continuing dialogue with the business sector on how to enhance the partnerships we have. We are implementing it for a second year because of its huge success in encouraging more investors to come in,” she said.

Taguig City has been recognized by no less than the World Bank as one of the best places in the country to do business in. In its most recent Ease of Doing Business study, Taguig ranked first amongst the cities in Metro Manila to have the easiest and least number of processes of putting up a business.

Just last Dec. 9, Taguig honored its Top 100 taxpayers in a Thanksgiving Luncheon that included corporations that opted to set up shop in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) because of the local government’s sound policies in dealing with the business sector.

Big names in business like Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, chairman of Ayala Corporation, said they were delighted to be partners with Taguig City.

“Our engagement in Taguig has been a very productive one, it’s one of the more progressive communities developing around the greater metropolis of Metro Manila,” Zobel de Ayala said.

He added that the Ayala Group of companies is happy to be the developer of the FTI project and is hoping to turn it into an “integrated and thriving component of the bigger business community” in Taguig.

Mayor Lani welcomed the remarks and said the local government is continuously improving its services while maintaining its business-friendly policies, the heart of which are low taxes, ease of doing business, no number coding and no corruption in dealings with the business sector.
