TAGUIG TEACHER TOPS NATIONAL IT QUIZ BEE
Another teacher bags 4th place
A teacher from a Taguig public high school emerged as the grand champion in the recently concluded grand finals of the 6th PLDT myDSL Broadband National Quiz Bee Competition held in Mandaluyong City.
First place winner Marneli Dianito is a technology teacher from Senator Renato “Companero” Cayetano Memorial Science and Technology High School (SRCC-MSTHS). She won P30,000, while her school also won three units of personal computer and a free subscription of PLDT myDSL Internet and Wi-Fi connection.
Another teacher, Joana Feliza, who represented Taguig Science High School, bagged the fourth place in the competition and won P15,000.
Mayor Lani Cayetano congratulated the winners, saying this only showed that Taguig public school teachers are among the best in providing IT instruction to students.
“We are very proud to have them as mentors in our schools here in Taguig because it only shows how brilliant they are not just in the classroom but also in pitting their skills against their colleagues in a nationwide competition,” said Mayor Lani.
Atty. Darwin Icay, Atty. Darwin Icay, Chief of the Public Information Office and Mayor Cayetano’s spokesperson, said this achievement could also be attributed to the high priority the current administration is putting on providing excellent educational services for the people of Taguig.
“The city government, under the leadership of Mayor Lani, will continue providing appropriate support to our public schools to ensure our youth get the best education possible,” Atty. Icay said.
Leonardo Bruno of T. Paez Elementary School in Pasay City won second place and took home P25,000 while Cristian Rogelio of Lucena City National High School in Quezon province won third place with P20,000.
Dianito started as a volunteer teacher at the SRCC-MSTHS five years ago but was eventually given a permanent teacher status after a year of voluntary teaching. She was also designated to coach the school’s Robotics Team, a finalist in the 2007 Philippine National Robotics Competition.
The contest, held in coordination with the Department of Education, was started by the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company last September 2011, as part of its Infoteach Outreach Program which provided free computer training program to public school students and teachers nationwide.

Icay.
