Taguig to commence Jobstart Philippines
More than 300 youth to be given trainings, jobs
Train now, work after.
More than 300 young Taguigeños are set to undergo job training and coaching, afterwhich they will be given a sure shot to employment.
This developed as the City of Taguig launches today the Jobstart Philippined program, which aims to assist the youth to start their careers by enhancing their employability.
The Jobstart Philippines is a joint project of the Department of Labor and Employment, Asian Development Bank and Canadian International Development Agency,
Chosen among piloting cities
Meanwhile, Mayor Lani Cayetano took pride that Taguig was chosen as among few piloting cities for the project.
“Being chosen as one of the city partners for Jobstart Philippines means a lot to us in Taguig as we have always been striving to maintain a very efficient PESO program in order to reduce unemployment especially among the city’s youth,” said Mayor Lani, “And we are determined to do more.”
Under the program, beneficiaries will receive career guidance and employment coaching, and trainings on Labor Market Investment, client assessment, life skills training, and work ethics.
Best PESO program
According to Maida Aguinaldo, a Jobstart Philippines facilitator, Taguig was chosen because the city has one of the best Public Employment Services Office (PESO) in the country.
“There are four cities chosen, including Taguig. These cities have the strongest PESO in the country, this is the main reason why they are chosen,” Aguinaldo said adding that part of the program is to help improve the already good services of the different PESO.
The project is set to screen applicants starting June 24 to July 2.
About 640 applicants will be chosen randomly and will immediately undergo coaching. Afterwards, 340 beneficiaries will be chosen through a computer-generated selection to experience the Jobstart Philippines trainings and will be matched with possible employers.
The other half will undergo the regular PESO services.
“The city government will always support programs that will uplift the welfare of our young Taguigeños. With the trainings and coaching that Jobstart Philippines will give them, I am sure that they would land on good jobs,” the local chief executive said. ###
Napiling lungsod
