Taguig university among PRC’s top 10 nationwide

Taguig City University (TCU) has been cited by the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) as among the 10 top performing schools in the country.

In the Licensure Examination Results for Teachers released October 27, the PRC reported that TCU garnered 80 percent passing rate which landed the university in the top nine among schools and universities nationwide.

Out of its 50 examinees from TCU, 40 students passed the exam and are now qualified to teach in  high school.

The University of the Philippines-Diliman topped the licensure exam with a 93.06% passing rate, followed by the University of Santo Tomas and the Philippine Normal University- Agusan with 89.33% and 88.66%, respectively.

A total of 77,803 individuals nationwide took the aforementioned licensure exam given by the Board of Professional teachers.

Mayor Lani Cayetano congratulated the newly passed teachers from the city-run TCU, as well as its faculty members.

“This achievement of our graduates establishes a good reputation for TCU especially in the eyes of aspiring educators. This will encourage more future teachers to choose TCU,” she maintained.

 Scholars to professionals

Meanwhile, Taguig Policy and Scholarship Office Chief Boots P. Esden revealed that 44 other review scholars of the Lifeline Assistance for Neighbors-In Need (LANI) Scholarship program also passed the examination, wherein 28 students have been LANI Scholars since college.

“These new licensed teachers who will soon be joining the teaching force, is another testament that the city’s investment in education and scholarship is bearing great fruits,” said Esden.

The LANI Scholarship program has steadily risen from P100 million in 2011 to P400 million this year. For next year, this program is set to get P500 million.

Just recently, 42 out of 45 LANI scholars passed the Mechanical Engineering licensure exam and achieved a passing rate of 95 percent, while 20 scholars are now licensed Electronics Engineers after passing their licensure examination last September.

Also, during the Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination, 20 out 37 LANI Scholars passed.

“The city government believes that education is a worthy investment. It is one of the keys to solving poverty. Coupled with the wise use of funds, Taguig City is able to produce professionals who can help their respective families rise from poverty,” Mayor Lani pointed out. ###
