Taguig’s most wanted criminals nabbed

Taguig Police has successfully nabbed the city’s ten most wanted criminals.

In his accomplishment report during the  city’s Peace and Order Council meeting held at the Taguig City Satellite Office in SM Aura, Taguig Police Chief Senior Superintendent Ramil Ramirez announced that during the period January to May of 2016, they  have arrested  four (4) of the  Ten Most Wanted Person list and  six (6) out of the Top Ten  Drug Personalities list.

In the Top Ten Most Wanted Person List, arrested were Luisito Pestaño (carnapping); Gordon Verra (robbery); Jefferson Zabala (robbery, carnapping, and direct assault upon an agent of authority); and Pablito Naig (murder).

The Top Ten Drug Personalities who fell to anti-drug operations are  Edwin Santos, Felix Cornillez, Edna Dela Paz,  Rod Calibo, Cherry Sapitula Gemzon, and Jesus Coral.

Senior Supt. Ramirez vowed to further intensify anti-criminality and anti-drug campaigns in the city.

For the first five (5) months of 2016,  crime volume in the City has dropped by 23.52 percent in comparison with last year’s similar period. The index crime fell by 25.98 percent and the non-index crime declined by 21.06 percent.

Total crime volume for the period is only  660 this year, down from  863 last year. The total crime solved also improved at 386 this year compared to 365 last year.

Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano praised the Taguig Police for what it has  accomplished during the first half of the year. She exhorted them to continue with the city’s aggressive campaign against criminality.

“With the all-out anti-criminality stance of the incoming administration of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte in front of us, we in the local government together with the police will double our efforts to win the battle against criminality, especially in the war against drugs. The City commits to continue supporting the local PNP,” Mayor Lani said.

The recent accomplishments in the drug war continue the pattern of the Cayetano administration’s relentless fight against this menace. During Mayor Lani’s first term, the city government and the local police successfully dismantled the notorious Tinga Drug Syndicate and other drug players operating in the city. Last year, Taguig Police arrested the city’s top ten most wanted drug personalities.

“Everyone realizes that the drug problem is not just PNP’s concern. Police action alone cannot solve this serious problem. That is why I enjoin all communities in the city especially families to join us in our fight against drugs,” the lady mayor added.

Mayor Lani has made peace and order a cornerstone of her administration. In line with this thrust, she has implemented programs to assist the city’s police force. Just a few weeks after first winning the mayoral race in 2010, Mayor Lani issued a directive to prioritize buying of patrol cars for Taguig Police. Taguig’s pioneering Lifeline Assistance for Neighbors In-Need (LANI) Scholarship Program also gives opportunities to police officers who want to take post graduate studies  that they can use for career advancement. ###
