TLC Home Care Services launched in Taguig

Stroke, cancer patients and senior citizens to benefit from nursing services at home

The local government of Taguig has launched another pioneering program that will benefit stroke and cancer patients, as well as senior citizens and those with serious illnesses, by providing them with free nursing care services at the comforts of their own homes.

 Dubbed as the TLC Home Care Service, the program works similarly like the home care services implemented in the United States, where monitoring the condition of patients is continued even after their discharge from hospitals.

 Mayor Lani Cayetano explained that the local government will provide free home health nursing services to those who need them, particularly those who just suffered from a debilitating stroke, those with serious illnesses like cancer and senior citizens who need medical attention.

 “We understand the distress of those who have loved ones suffering from a grave illness. With this program, we hope to be of help and at least lessen their woes at a time of crisis,” Mayor Lani said.

 “We will actively seek them out by going from one barangay to another, much like what we do when we conduct our medical missions since 2010 to provide our citizens with free consultations and medicines, and even lay the groundwork for free surgical operations.”

 She added the TLC Home Care Service will employ nurses well-trained in home health nursing who will visit patients in their places of residence.

 Program staff will also be training family members on what and what not to do under the patient care disease education module, such as the proper way to clean and dress wounds; replacing medical equipment such as catheters; proper dosages of medicines; pain management; and more.

 According to Dr. Carlo Santos of the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital (TPDH) Nursing Service Department, it will be the mission of the TLC Home Care Service to help patients and nurse them back to good health until they can live and function normally.

 He added it will also ease the burden of the family in the care of their loved ones.

 Mayor Lani believes investing in this program is a wise decision because it will greatly help a significant number of Taguig families.

 “This program had been conceived in the same pioneering spirit that allowed our citizens to enjoy innovations such as the 24-hour Super Health Centers and Doctors on Call 24/7. Investing in the health of our citizens is a pillar of good governance,” she said. ###

Taguig inilunsad ang TLC home care services

Libreng home care services para sa mga na-stroke, nakatatandang nakaratay na, at mga may malulubhang karamdaman ang panibagong serbisyong ipinatutupad ngayon ng pamahalaang lokal ng Taguig sa kanilang nasasakupan.

Tinawag itong TLC Home Care Service na may pagkakahawig sa home care program ng Estados Unidos kung saan binabalikan ang mga pasyenteng nangangailangan pang subaybayan ang kalagayan kahit lumabas na ng pagamutan.

Sinabi ni Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano na sa ilalim ng programa ay magbibigay ng libreng home health nursing services ang lungsod sa mga nakatatanda o mga pasyenteng may malubhang kalagayan.

“Batid po namin ang hirap kapag mayroong miyembro ng pamilya na tinamaan ng malubhang karamdaman. Sa pamamagitan ng programang ito ay maiibsan ang pagdurusa ng pamilyang dumadaan sa ganitong pagsubok,” paliwanag ni Mayor Lani.

“Sa halip na sila ang humingi ng tulong ay ang pamahalaang lungsod na po ang tutungo sa mga komunidad para magkaloob ng serbisyo. Katulad po ito ng aming medical missions na sapul taong 2010 ay sinusuyod ang mga komunidad para magkaloob ng libreng konsulta at kumpletong gamot sa mga karamdaman.”

Ang mga nurse na may kasanayan sa home health nursing ang siyang dadalaw sa mga pasyente sa kanilang mga tahanan.

Nakapaloob sa TLC Home Care Services ang patient care disease education kung  saan ituturo sa mga miyembro ng pamilya kung ano ang bawal at hindi sa kanilang pasyente.

Ituturo rin ang iba pang bagay sa pag-aalaga sa may sakit tulad ng paglilinis ng sugat; pagpapalit ng catheter; tamang pagpapainom ng gamot; pain management; at iba pa.

Sinabi ni Dr. Carlo Santos ng Taguig Pateros District Hospital (TPDH) Nursing Service Department na misyon ng TLC Home Care Service na matulungan ang mga pasyente na maibalik ang kanilang kalusugan at maging  ang normal nilang pamumuhay. Gayundin ay upang maibsan ang paghihirap ng mga pamilyang may nakaratay na miyembro ng pamilya sa banig ng karamdaman.

Naniniwala si Mayor Lani na maraming pamilyang Taguigueno ang matutulungan ng programa.

“Ang programang ito ay nabuo sa layuning makatulong sa mas marami naming kababayan katulad din ng aming 24-hour super Health Centers at Doctors on Call. Ang pagbibigay ng atensyon sa kalusugan ng mga mamayan ay nagsisilbing haligi ng good governance,” pahayag ni Mayor Lani. ###
