“Walk the Fault”

The local government of Taguig, in partnership with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS),conducted a Walk the Fault activity last June 19 at the boundary of Barangays Pinagsama and North Signal.

Mayor Lani Cayetano, PHIVOLCS Director Renato Solidum Jr., and MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino led the marking of fault using a reflectorized thermoplastic paint.

Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano said the city has revised its contingency plans after PHIVOLCS released the Valley Fault System Atlas.

Taguig started their preparations as early as 2010.

For the first time, the Taguig City Integrated Survey System (TCISS) presented the city’s earthquake preparations and response.

The TCISS has a list of the residents living within the five-meter and ten- meter danger zones.

The TCISS also has a list of hospitals, open spaces, water refilling stations, grocery stores, rice retailers, pharmacies, mortuaries and gas stations.

Also present in the event were Vice Mayor Ricardo “Ading’ Cruz Jr., MMDA General Manager Corazon Jimenez, City government’s department heads, DEPED officials, barangay captains, and the media.
